Therapies at ASEND

At ASEND, we offer a wide range of therapy services to support children and young people with SEND, tailored to meet individual needs. This includes assessments, direct therapy, and indirect (consultative or programme-based) support. Our therapists can work as part of EHCP provision, contribute to assessment processes, or deliver targeted interventions at the request of a school or local authority. All of our therapists are Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered.

Our approach is flexible and collaborative, always focused on what will make the biggest difference for the young person.

Our Therapy Services

When you join ASEND, you become part of a community that values your growth and well-being as much as the progress of the young people we support. We understand the unique challenges of working in SEND education, which is why we offer a strong support system, continuous professional development, and a flexible work environment.

Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT)

Our SaLTs support children with communication, language, and speech difficulties. This can include helping non-verbal children find their voice through AAC (e.g. PECS, eye gaze), supporting expressive/receptive language development, or working on social communication and interaction.

Occupational Therapy (OT)

Our OTs help children develop the skills they need for everyday life, such as fine and gross motor skills, sensory regulation, independence, and functional skills like dressing or handwriting. They also advise on equipment and adaptations to improve access and engagement. Many have varied experiences including acquired brain injury or rehabilitation from substance misuse

Music Therapy

Using music as a tool for expression, regulation and connection, music therapists help children explore emotions, develop communication and improve social interaction – especially effective for those who are non-verbal or find it hard to express themselves.

Art Therapy

Art therapy gives children a safe space to express feelings and experiences that might be difficult to put into words. It can support emotional regulation, reduce anxiety, and help children build confidence and self-esteem through creative work.

Dramatherapy

Dramatherapists use story, role-play and movement to help children explore thoughts and feelings, develop empathy and build resilience. It can be particularly powerful for children who have experienced trauma, social difficulties, or struggle with identity and self-expression.

Ongoing Development

Receive expert training and develop key skills to effectively support young people, equipping you with the knowledge, strategies to make a meaningful impact in their education and development.

“Extremely pleased with the professionalism and approach to tasks. A valuable service that we will use again.”

- Park View School, Deputy Headteacher
