About this role

A secondary school situated in Hackney is looking to appoint an innovative leader to join their talented senior leadership as Interim Assistant Headteacher/SENCo. The school is a vibrant, diverse and inclusive school at the heart of the local community in North Hackney. Main purpose of the Role

  • Effective leadership of the Inclusion team.
  • Establishing and maintaining a unified purpose to the SEND provision across the whole school.
  • Strategic oversight of the provision for students with a medical condition or additional need.
  • The deployment of all Learning Support Assistants (LSA), Senior LSAs and HLTAs across the School.
  • Maintaining and enhancing a culture that is both supportive and aspirational, ensuring barriers to learning are removed and the needs of SEND students are met, helping them to achieve.
  • Ensuring the school meets the statutory provision according to the SEND Code of Practice (2015).
  • Establishing highly effective working practices with staff, parents and students.
  • Supporting leaders and teachers by setting challenging targets and developing clear improvement plans and systems, where the impact of actions can be shown.
  • Using data to support, monitor, evaluate and enhance aspects of provision and support.
  • Working with positivity, determination, optimism, humour, commitment and a relentless approach to fulfil our school improvement aims.

The successful candidate will demonstrate success in implementing and sustaining whole school initiatives and the line management of staff. Previous experience will include the leadership of a team, or equivalent, and the ability to support and challenge staff to ensure outstanding classroom practice. The successful candidate will present the best possible example of professional standards to colleagues and will have the NASENCo qualification.
