ASEND is looking for HCPC-registered Educational Psychologists for interesting and varied consultative and assessment work. We know that not all Educational Psychologists are the same, or want to work in the same way. Some prefer direct assessment, others thrive in consultative roles advising on curriculum and strategy alongside multi-disciplinary teams. Our assignments are flexible in terms of time commitment and level of involvement, so you can work in the way that suits you best. Our EP work includes:

• Providing consultative support to advise on young people’s curriculum and educational needs in collaboration with other professionals
• Working as part of multi-disciplinary teams alongside SaLTs, OTs, and other specialists to draw up combined support programmes
• Conducting assessments and contributing to EHCPs and annual reviews
• Providing strategies to teaching staff and families to support young people effectively
• Opportunities for assessments and reports for first-tier tribunals and appeals

What we’re looking for in an Educational Psychologist

Essential:

• HCPC registration: You must hold current HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist (Educational Psychologist)
• Qualifications: Doctorate in Educational Psychology (or equivalent) and a psychology degree
• Experience with SEND: Experience supporting children and young people with SEN, including autism (ASD/ASC) and PDA (essential)
• MDT experience: Experience working within or alongside multi-disciplinary teams (EOTAS/EOTIS MDTs)
• Safeguarding: Knowledge of safeguarding processes and a commitment to promoting the health, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people at all times
• Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can help you obtain this) and 2 professional references
• Location: You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship

Desirable:

• Experience providing indirect consultative support to advise on curriculum and educational needs
• Experience collaborating with SaLTs, OTs, and other therapists as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Experience drawing up combined programmes giving teaching staff and families strategies to support young people effectively
• Experience writing reports for EHCPs, first-tier tribunals, and appeals
• Experience with SEMH needs, PDA, and demand-avoidant profiles
• BPS membership (Chartered Psychologist status)
