About this young person and your role

This young person is 18 years old and requires support at her home in Newham. She has been diagnosed with Autism and associated learning difficulties. She enjoys watching films, cooking and swimming. She has expressed an interest in dancing and enjoys visiting new places. She uses simple Makaton signs to communicate, visuals, and a Core Vocabulary Board. Her new Speech and Language Therapist will provide hourly therapy sessions for her, 6 times a year.

What we’re looking for in a Speech and Language Therapist

Essential:

  • HCPC registration: You must hold current HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Experience working with children: Experience providing speech and language therapy to children and young people, ideally with SEND.
  • Safeguarding: Knowledge of safeguarding processes and a commitment to promoting the health, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people at all times.
  • Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can help you obtain this) and 2 professional references.
  • Location: You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in schools or educational settings.
  • Experience with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) in children with SEND.
  • Experience writing reports for EHCPs, first-tier tribunals, and appeals.
  • Familiarity with a range of SEND needs including autism (ASD/ASC), selective mutism, developmental language disorder, and PMLD.
  • RCSLT membership.
