About this young person and your role
- Location: Medway – in person, at young person’s home address.
- Young person: This young person is 14 years old and non-verbal. He has complex health needs and profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) associated with his diagnosis of Pallister-Killian syndrome, a rare genetic disorder. His experience of this has included associations to other diagnoses including scoliosis (curvature of the spine), delayed ossification of the left femoral head (hip dysplasia); submucosal cleft palate; Kidney stones; seborrheic dermatitis, seizures (Epilepsy); hearing loss and feeding and respiratory difficulties (he is PEG fed).
- Hours: We are looking for a Music Therapist to work with this young person for one hour per week.
What we’re looking for in a Music Therapist
Essential:
- HCPC registration: You must hold current HCPC registration.
- Experience with children: Experience providing music therapy to children and young people, ideally with SEND.
- Safeguarding: Knowledge of safeguarding processes and a commitment to promoting the health, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people at all times.
- Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can help you obtain this) and 2 professional references.
- Location: You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship.
Desirable:
- Experience working in schools or educational settings.
- Experience writing reports for example, for annual reviews.
- Familiarity with a range of SEND needs including autism (ASD/ASC), selective mutism, developmental language disorder, and PMLD.
