Our Roots In SEND

We were founded by SEND professionals and built on a deep understanding of the lived realities of special educational needs and disabilities. Everyone in our team has a connection to SEND – whether through personal experience or professional practice – so we genuinely understand the challenges and the importance of getting it right.

Putting Young People First

We are dedicated to improving outcomes for all young people with SEND, including those who are excluded or at risk of exclusion. No matter how complex their needs or how disengaged they may be from education, we have the experience, patience and creativity to help them reconnect, make progress, and feel safe and valued. With care and persistence, we work to re-engage them in education, support their well-being, and guide them towards a positive, meaningful adulthood.

Support That Makes a Difference

ASEND provides specialist tuition, therapeutic support, and expert consultancy to local authorities, schools, and families. We design and deliver EOTAS packages, 1:1 and small-group tuition, and SEND-focused training and advice — all tailored to each young person’s unique needs. Our nationwide network includes qualified and experienced tutors, therapists, psychologists, mentors and other professionals who share our commitment to inclusive, relationship-based practice.

Our Story

2011

ASEND was established in 2011 as a consultancy service specialising in Special Educational Needs. From the outset, the focus has been on working directly with young people, their families, and schools to provide expert guidance and tailored support.

We secured our first formal partnership with a local authority, marking a key moment in ASEND's journey from consultancy to strategic SEND service provider.

As demand grew, ASEND expanded its team of specialist practitioners and introduced more structured support offers, including staff training and school-based consultancy.

2017

We expanded our services to include tuition, working in partnership with local authorities and schools to deliver and small group teaching personalised to each pupil's individual needs.

2017

We launched our first Education Other Than At School (EOTAS) packages, blending tuition with therapeutic support. This allowed us to meet the full range of provision requests outlined in young people's EHCPs, ensuring holistic support.

2019

We deepened our work with neurodivergent young people, particularly those with internalised PDA profiles, and began offering targeted consultancy and training in this area.

2020

In response to the pandemic, ASEND quickly transitioned to offer remote tuition and virtual support, ensuring continuity for vulnerable learners during school closures.

2023

ASEND opened two dedicated Tuition Hubs, offering safe, structured external venues where small groups of pupils could learn together outside mainstream school.

2025

Now a team of 16 dedicated team members, we are supporting over 200 young people with tuition, while continuing to expand into new regions across the
