Junior SEND Manager – Job Description

The Junior SEND Manager plays a key role in delivering high-quality, personalised education provision for children and young people with SEND. Reporting to the Director of SEND, you will manage an allocated caseload, ensuring placements are well-matched, compliant, and progressing in line with agreed outcomes, while supporting the wider growth and quality strategy of the organisation.

The Junior SEND Manager will be responsible for:

  • Liaising with families and clients to ensure effective delivery of SEN provision, responding to inquiries, and ensuring communication is clear, consistent and timely.
  • Assist in monitoring the progress of each placement assigned, including supporting tutor selection, creating and reviewing risk assessments, education and assessment planning, and timetabling.
  • You’ll also be involved in tracking attendance and attending meetings related to the YP.
  • Proof-reading and monitoring weekly reports and flagging any issues with the SEND Director.
  • Directing tutors to the professional development knowledge base and escalate to the training lead if more specialist SEND knowledge is required.
  • Help ensure that all data related to SEN placements is accurately entered and maintained in internal systems to support effective cross-team collaboration.
  • Ensure all placements meet safeguarding, compliance, and risk management standards.
  • Escalate safeguarding or welfare concerns in line with company policy.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working in education, alternative provision, or tutoring environments with children or young adults with SEND
  • People-focused with the ability to lead and motivate
  • Proficient and comfortable using technology
  • Strong written report-writing skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills

Desirable:

  • Experience in EHCP process
  • QTS

Junior SEND Manager role benefits:

  • £28,000 – £32,000
